What is Hydroelectric Power?
Hydroelectricity is electricity harnessed from the kinetic energy of moving water, through tidal forces or gravity. The most common and widely used type of hydroelectric power are conventional dams. This method uses a concrete or earth filled dam to create a reservoir behind it. This water is then let through a pipe called a penstock, where the water turns a turbine which then turns a generator, creating electricity.
